PLEASE NOTE:  OUR OFFICE DOES NOT ADMIT PATIENTS TO LAKESIDE HOSPITAL.  IF YOU HAVE A MEDICAL PROBLEM THAT YOU THINK MIGHT REQUIRE HOSPITAL SERVICES BUT TIME OF TRANSPORT IS NOT CRITICAL, PLEASE GO TO ALEGENT BERGAN MERCY MEDICAL CENTER EMERGENCY ROOM.  WE FEEL BERGAN OFFERS THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE CARE AND SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR PATIENTS AND THAT WE IMPROVE OUR PATIENTS' CARE BY FOCUSING OUR SERVICES AT ONE HOSPITAL.

The staff at Physicians of Internal Medicine is dedicated to caring for the health of you and the adult members of your family (age 16 and above). We provide comprehensive health services to adults.  This site is provided as a convenience to our current patients. It also gives an overview of our practice to current and prospective patients.

Physicians of Internal Medicine is a private practice primary care office.  The history of this office in the community goes back over 50 years and has been at its present location for over 20 years.  Unlike most primary care offices in Omaha, we are not owned or managed by a hospital system.  We feel by utilizing a private practice model, our only obligation is to the patient, and we can be more responsive to your needs.  This model allows us to be our own bosses, which might explain the longstanding committment to our practice of our physicians.

Our physicians are all general internists, all certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and all born and trained in the Midwest area.  Our goal is to provide high quality care to all of our patients, both in the outpatient setting and for hospitalized patients at Alegent Bergan Mercy Medicial Center.  We provide both diagnostic services along with preventive care measures in the practice of adult medicine.  To facilitate that, we provide on-site mammography, bone density scanning, X-ray services, EKG services to include stress testing, and laboratory services.

Physicians trained in internal medicine have spent at least three additional years beyond medical school to train in adult medicine.  This includes training in the subspecialties of internal medicine to include cardiology, pulmonology, geriatrics, endocrinology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, oncology, hematology, neurology, renal, and infectious disease.   Thus our training is specific to adults needing comprehensive, non-obstretical, non-surgical care.  This is a level of training not provided to OB-GYN or Family Practice doctors who spend much of their training time in other areas of their specialty's interest.
